I have never understood, especially on days like today, how any Jew could ever be anti-gun ownership. I grew up with people around us that had been prisoners in concentration camps. We were taught what Never Again means from a very young age (at least as young as 8 when I started Hebrew school), including being shown the films Hitler's troops had made. Most of the survivor's never talked about it outside of when we were in school. I was about 13 when I worked part-time for a cousin. I only recently found out that he had survived Auschwitz and got out when he was about 13.

My only complaint about the Holocaust and its remembrance is that we tend to focus way too much on the 6,000,000 Jews that died. Many people do not understand that this was just one group that the NAZI's demonized and tortured. There were other groups that totaled between 3 and 5.5 million more killed in the concentration camps. This includes the gays, the gypsies, the communists, and the disabled, among others. I support groups like the Pink Pistols for understanding that Never Again does not apply just to Jews.

And for anyone who thinks this cannot happen in the US, I would point out a couple historical references that might be interesting. The first and main point is to remind you that Hitler gained power by being elected in a national election. He did this after he failed to gain it through violence in 1924. He was a member of the German Worker's party (hmm, who do the Democrats claim to represent again?), which he merged with another group to form the National Socialist German Workers Party. This was shortened to NAZI because of the German spelling of National and Socialist. One of the things the Nazi's did was to use force with the Sturmabteilung (SA or Brown Shirts) violently attacking people who disagreed with him. Another thing the Nazi's did was to gain public support by introducing a 25 point National Socialist Program.

I see (my opinion only) Antifa as the Brown Shirts right now. Sanders is almost as charismatic a leader as Hitler was, but I think there is still someone behind him pulling the strings. Anyone who studies history and tries to learn from it would see some of the mistakes Hitler made and try to fix them by being hidden instead of the public leader. I have no evidence to back up my thoughts on what is happening and it may be just my overactive imagination reacting to the indoctrination (and yes, it was really an indoctrination not just an education) I received. The most significant difference I see is that the US has a strong cultural history of questioning authority, violently if necessary, while Germany had a culture of obedience to the government.

Mods: I apologize if I got too political and cause you any trouble. These are my thoughts though. Feel free to delete the post if you think it will stir up too many problem, either on the board or with the government.

While I was stationed in Germany (Fulda, 1/11 ACR, 1986-89), I never did any of the battlefield tours.

But I did tour Dachau, and it remains the most sobering thing I've ever seen in person, in my life.
What do I miss about Texas? Most of the food, some of the people, absolutely none of the weather.

I've been there, very sobering.

I told my dad yesterday we are now living in 1930's Germany.
Why is it so hard for politicians to understand "shall not be infringed?"

I went to Bergen-Belsen as a kid around 9 years old - that's where/when my sympathies were formed.

I've been warning for years that "It could never happen here!" was already happening.

I fully agree, there is way too much evidence, that today's political climate, mirrors that of Hitler's Germany. In my limited study of that portion of history, (thanks to my friend Bitter Clinger) I can see how the elite's are trying to accomplish the same goals. You only have to look at the impeachment farce, to see how they think. Antifa, thugs targeting anyone who believes in America, as it was designed. "re programming" anyone who supports America First. Painting us as enemies of Democracy, when we protest their overreach. etc.etc.etc...

Hitler came into power partly due to the great Depression, and his ability to blame it on big business and the rich. The left is doing the same thing by promising people a free lunch, paid for by the rich.

Their next big hurdle is, of course disarmament, of the citizenry. It won't come through mass confiscation, but through small steps, disguised as "common sense" for our own protection. JMHO

Does any of the language in here, sound familiar?

https://www.dhs.gov/ntas/advisory/natio ... ry-27-2021

We ask the public to report suspicious activity and threats of violence, including online activity, to local law enforcement, FBI Field Offices, or their local Fusion Center. (Gestapo for short)

How many "tips" regarding Antifa, do you think, will be investigated? I bet Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, or any other patriotic group will have several "visits"

On June 22 1982, Joe Biden was a Senator from Delaware and confronted then Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin during his Senate Foreign Relations committee testimony, threatening to cut off aid to Israel.

Begin forcefully responded, “Don’t threaten us with cutting off your aid. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history. Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.”

Senator Biden reportedly banged the table with his fist, and Begin retorted, “This desk is designed for writing, not for fists. Don’t threaten us with slashing aid. Do you think that because the US lends us money it is entitled to impose on us what we must do? We are grateful for the assistance we have received, but we are not to be threatened. I am a proud Jew. Three thousand years of culture are behind me, and you will not frighten me with threats. Take note: we do not want a single soldier of yours to die for us.”

After the meeting, Sen. Moynihan approached Begin and praised him for his cutting reply. To which Begin answered with thanks, defining his stand against threats.
