The material makes them good backers. The names make them perfect.

Campaign signs are New Hampshire's largest biennial crop. Even signs from friendlies make good target backers, if they're corplast.
(Bag signs are awful, and so are their metal frames.)
I had friends from a losing statewide campaign ask me to pick up their signs and take them to a local sporting good store, where the owner supports youth shooting training classes, and uses them as target backers.
