Everyone either looked at me like I had 2 heads, or just didn't respond to my query. The first one was direct deposited, which I forwarded on to an organization that could help folks that could use it.

The second was mailed to me as a paper check. I'm still unsure why they decided to mail a paper check when the first one was deposited to the account directly. However, this actually gave me the option to do what I wanted....I am able to "decline" by not depositing the check. It has sat on a table at my house since it arrived. I have no plans to do anything with it.
Previously, we received paper checks. This time it was direct deposited. I have no idea why it changed.
I understand the urge to refuse it on principle but it is your money anyway. You and your family will be paying it back for the next ten years.

Just curious, why not just donate this as well, since the money's been allocated by the feds anyway? I would trust your choice of charitable organization to use the money wiser than the feds would.

For me, it is more that I did not agree with the legislation for the "stimulus" to begin with. I'm reminded of a story about Davy Crockett.

While you may trust my choice of charitable organization over the federal government (I appreciate the compliment), I don't agree with borrowing from future generations in my name...even if it is for a good cause. Charitable giving should be voluntary and come from the individual, not compulsory and from the government.

Just my 2 cents.

We got that same letter, and it said we would receive $1200 (2x$600). About a week later, we got $2400 direct deposited into our checking account. I think there was a major SNAFU somewhere along the line. It speaks eloquently to the general lack of gov’t efficiency. One hand never knows what the other is doing, nor what it is supposed to be doing.

Just imagine the carnage if Democrats decide to send out "Reparations" payments. That will likely be a good time to own a new car dealership offering the gold rims option near the ghetto.

Better save it to help pay your increased Federal Income taxes under Joe Bai Den as well as the increase in local taxes sure to follow due to the DemocRat border crisis. According to the Texas Scorecard:

As a humanitarian crisis continues unfolding at the Texas-Mexico border, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced another consequence of the chaos: a nearly $1 billion annual bill charged to Texas taxpayers.

Paxton said yesterday that Texans involuntarily spend “hundreds of millions of dollars” on illegal aliens every year, including $152 million to “house illegal criminal aliens for just one year.” Taxpayers also foot the bill, he said, for nearly $63 million annually to educate unaccompanied illegal immigrants, and up to $717 million per year on public hospital districts to “provide uncompensated care” for individuals illegally in the state.

“Texas will always welcome those who legally immigrate, but we cannot continue forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for individuals who skirt the law and skip the line.” – Ken Paxton

this is why i write the governor often insisting we as texans not allow these people to be dropped off in our state, escort the busses to state line. possibly to dc/
the fed insists immigration is their ball of wax...so the fed should absorb the cost PERIOD.
