There’s a move afoot, to keep the lunatics in charge of the asylum by replacing LaPierre with the one person on the Board who has done the most to enable LaPierre’s corruption and to protect him for the past several years – NRA President Charles Cotton.

The same Charles Cotton who bullied users on his forum who voiced objections to the corruption? The same Charles Cotton who was on the board and the audit committee, yet denied all of the allegations that LaPierre has now testified that are true?

Former NRA Board Member’s Thoughts
https://nraindanger.wordpress.com/2024/ ... -thoughts/

Read it all, a couple of highlights below.
With that began the Marion Hammer era of near absolute control NRA the Board of Directors. Board members who had not toed the line – meaning unquestioned support for Wayne and “leadership” – were immediately stripped of committee assignments as punishment. Further they were not renominated by the Marion controlled Nominating committee and in three short years all dissenting voices were purged.
The next few years bring legal defeat after legal defeat costing yet to be determined tens (hundreds?) of millions of dollars in legal fees. The Board continued to do exactly nothing of consequence, to the contrary they have empowered Marion Hammers apparent successor Charles Cotton to the role of some sort of Supreme Commander to whom they now appear to march in lockstep to his every dictate.
The sooner Hammer, Cotton and the rest of the old guard are dismissed from power the better.

The NRA Board needs to be reformed, however the current method of electing board members "approved" by those who need the reforming means the reformers can't get elected.

Still a Life Member, don't know if I'll get a ballot since I no longer receive any NRA magazines.

Meh, nothing to see here. The NRA board investigated itself thoroughly and discovered no wrongdoing.
I read an interview of Charles Cotton recently in which the interviewer asked several pointed questions about the kerfuffle at the NRA. From the interview I learned that none of the things that allegedly happened fell under the "jurisdiction" of the audit committee. Clearly this story would have a very different trajectory if the miscreants had raided accounts subject to audit committee scrutiny, I tell you what.

Amazing to me is how many otherwise seemingly quite intelligent active content contributors to txchl forum remained loyal long after it was clear what was happening to the NRA. Very few ever protested the banning that would occur on that site simply for the "crime" of dissenting with the party line politics of Cotton and his cronies. Well, looks like they have finally come home to roost. Very sad.
