But at least there is enough money to pay the attorneys. Around $200 million to date, or enough to buy five headquarters buildings (appraised at $35 million) with change left over. Put another way: over the last five years, NRA’s total salary expenses were $31-42 million per year. That means that, over those five years, NRA’s “leadership” paid more to its outside attorneys than it did to all its employees put together!

Marion Hammer Resigns From NRA Board, Talks to AmmoLand News
Comments on NRAinDanger were not entirely flattering to Ms. Hammer, reminding readers she was former Executive Vice President Wayne “LaPierre’s most staunch…defender.” However, at least a couple of respondents noted how Hammer “was the tail that wagged the dog for the 2nd Amendment in Florida. And Florida became the tail that wagged the USA to where we now have 29 Constitutional Carry states. What happened in Florida got us to Heller, to McDonald, and to Bruen.”

The members of that committee will be elected by the entire board. The Nominating Committee must each year nominate 20 additional candidates who had not served as directors prior to 2022. Judgment is entered for NRA against LaPierre and Wilson for $4.3 and $2 million, with 9% interest, dating from the jury verdict in February. Significantly, NRA is forbidden to compromise these numbers without court consent.

The trial judge had granted them a jury trial on money damages and the questions related to liability — had NRA officials done this, had they complied with the law in certain ways — but if NRA had violated the law, he would decide what reforms were necessary.
