Even with admissions of guild...legions of NRA true believers will still contend that nothing needs to be changed, that Lapierre and the rest of the gang should remain in control.

Thanks for bringing these facts to light. I won't be one of the legions. I received my membership renewal notice last week and tossed it, unopened, into the trash can.

Cotton is tired of commuting?

After letting the Virginia HQ building and museum fall into disrepair, what's the end game here? Getting all the employees to quit instead of move?

In this case the NRA In Danger website failed to provide links to anything recent where the NRA is saying they are going to move HQ to Texas. Is this some secret NRA Board insider information that hasn't made it way public yet?

Brewer continues losing streak....NRA Loses Three Motions In NY Case
https://nraindanger.wordpress.com/2022/ ... n-ny-case/
NRA filed three motions against the NY Attorney General, and just lost all three. They were appeals from the Special Referee’s rulings, that 1. The AG was not required to file an additional statement; 2. that NRA could not take testimony from one of the AG attorneys; and 3. that NRA was required to turn over a 2007 “whistleblower” letter and something called the 2003 Frankel report. The judge upheld all three rulings.

NRA’s Finances And Legal Bills
https://nraindanger.wordpress.com/2022/ ... gal-bills/
Legal expenses have absolutely exploded, even as revenues go thru the floor, as members decide not to renew or contribute. In 2017, legal expenses were 2% of NRA’s budget, in 2021 they were 17%, and in 2022 they are likely to be nearly 24%. One dollar in four of a member’s dues or contributions is going to attorneys. In the meantime, NRA staff have fallen from over 800 to under 500, and it looks like NRA will run a $40 deficit in 2022, borrowing to keep itself alive, and to pay its legal bills.

LaPierre Files His Answers
https://nraindanger.wordpress.com/2022/ ... is-answer/
In the New York lawsuit, Wayne LaPierre’s Answer has just been filed. There are some amazing admissions, or we might say, confessions, here, especially regarding the use of NRA money on chartered private jets. Those cost about $7,000 per flight hour, plus expenses, so a trip from Fairfax to the West Coast will cost NRA members about $35,000 each way.

A too common phrase in the answers: "Mr. LaPierre lacks knowledge or information sufficient." The buck stops somewhere but not here.

I have to wonder when LaPierre made the reimbursements for "excessive expenses"...before or after the investigation by NY started?

Seems like he could have headed off a lot of the members anger and withdrawal of contributions by simply admitting that the excessive spending had occurred and the amounts had all been repaid. Instead we got denials by LaPierre and his minions that any such thing had taken place.

The drain continues.

(W)hen the budget projected a $676,000 surplus at this point, NRA actually ran an $11 million deficit.

Expenses: The standout is the legal costs, listed under “OGC_Secretary” (Office of General Counsel). That was budgeted for a eye-popping $26 million, but actually cost $40 million. Twice as much was spent on legal costs as was spent by the entire of ILA! Legal bills ate up more than ILA and General Operations put together. They are now 29% of NRA’s entire budget;
