Who are the quisling GOP (AKA “spineless authoritarians”) Congress critters who voted AGAINST removing suppressors from the NFA, agreeing to get rid of the $200 tax, but keeping them on the NFA registry? These jackasses need to be primaried in the midterms.

There was a vote? Can’t find any stories about it.

Sources Say Lobbyist Chris Cox & Rep Kustoff Pushing to Keep Suppressors on the NFA
https://www.ammoland.com/2025/05/source ... n-the-nfa/
Heavy lobbying is being done by the former head of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), Chris Cox, a paid lobbyist. Cox is working to lower the tax stamp fee to $5 and keep suppressors on the NFA!

The current NRA-ILA has pushed for the removal of suppressors from the NFA, and Cox’s actions are contrary to that stance. Mr. Cox no longer has any connections to the NRA. Mr. Cox has also lobbied for a gun company that produces suppressors, which has strongly advocated removing silencers from the NFA, and could make millions of dollars if the hearing protection item is delisted from the NFA.

It is unclear if Chris Cox is advocating for a specific client of his lobbying firm, Capitol 6 Advisors, or if this is a personal issue for him, but Cox seemed to back a rule banning bump stocks under Trump’s first term while heading the NRA-ILA.

“What we’ve said has been very clear: that if something transfers a semi-automatic to function like fully automatic, then those should be regulated as well,” said Chris Cox in a Fox News 2017 interview.

Another WLP crony who isn’t serious about undoing infringements….negotiating rights away.

There have also been accusations that Silencer Central was lobbying against the removal, though they’ve tried to deny it.

HPA Passes House in Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill

Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) has been added to the House of Representatives’ reconciliation bill. The bill passed the House on a party-line vote.

The HPA would remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA).

I'm not going to trust anyone in Washington to do the right thing until the bill is signed, and the ink is dry.

Texas is a great example of why states should never assimilate federal gun laws, nor refer to them.

Remember 20-something years back when the "contiguous states" issue came up? Texas had incorporated that federal law into their own. When that went away in 1986, it took ATF a few years to catch up, but they suddenly put all Texas dealers on notice that they could only sell rifles or shotguns to residents of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, because federal law requires FFLs to comply with federal and state laws.

If Texas hadn't repealed the requirement that Texas residents be in compliance with NFA for NFA items (including registration and taxation), then the same thing would apply here if silencers are removed from NFA: there would be no legal way for Texans to acquire or possess items that can no longer be registered.
What do I miss about Texas? Most of the food, some of the people, absolutely none of the weather.
